Fifteen computers were sent to
the Dar-es-Salaam School for the Deaf in January 2005.
The school is a "primary" school. The students take a competitive exam
at the end of their primary education for entry into secondary
education. There remains the question of what happens to those who do
not pass, as it is these students who could really benefit from having
computer skills as there is then a greater chance of them finding a
job. The classrooms cannot be said to be well equipped, although the
students receive a good standard of education despite the lack of
resources.
